Selection of Chief Deputy Clerk

Jeff Davis, recently elevated to the position of Clerk of Court, is pleased to announce he has selected Lauren Maxwell to fill his former position as Chief Deputy Clerk.  Lauren will work primarily from the Court’s Greenville office. 


Lauren earned her undergraduate degree from Clemson University in 2007, magna cum laude, and was a member of Phi Beta Kappa and the Calhoun Honors College.  She graduated with honors from the University of North Carolina School of Law at Chapel Hill in 2010, where she served as a staff member of the North Carolina Law Review.  Lauren previously worked in private practice in Greenville, with concentrations in business litigation as well as banking, bankruptcy, and creditors’ rights.  Lauren has been with the Court for over nine years.  Before entering private practice, she served two years as the term law clerk for Judge Burris, then returned in 2015 as career law clerk.
