Ask-A-Lawyer is a free program in which the South Carolina Bankruptcy Court partners with the South Carolina Bar and various members of the South Carolina bankruptcy legal community. This program provides the public with an opportunity to speak, one-on-one, with a volunteer attorney for a free phone consultation to answer questions and provide advice regarding bankruptcy related matters. Ask-A-Lawyer cannot provide an attorney to represent you or complete your paperwork for you, but the attorney you speak with may agree to represent you for a fee.
How Do I Sign Up? Please contact the District of South Carolina Bankruptcy Clerk's Office at (803) 765-5045 to schedule an appointment or click here to learn more about the dates of the program. All sessions are limited to 30 minutes. The attorneys that participate in the program are volunteers, and their time is valuable. If you schedule a consultation and fail to appear (without notice or rescheduling), you may not be eligible to participate in a future consultation.
