As part of Pro Bono Week, the Court is highlighting different bankruptcy-related public service programs. Today, the Court would like to recognize the members of the bar who support the various programs offered by the South Carolina Bar.
Pro Bono Program
The South Carolina Bar’s Pro Bono Program refers indigent debtors to attorneys for pro bono representation. Attorneys who accept pro bono cases through the program are offered malpractice insurance coverage for the case at no cost. In 2017, the program has made 15 referrals for Chapter 7 bankruptcies. The Court would like to recognize the following attorneys who have accepted referrals through the Bar’s Pro Bono Program this year:
Robert J. Cantrell
Special recognition goes to Russ DeMott for accepting four Chapter 7 pro bono referrals through the program this year.

South Carolina Law Answers
In coordination with the American Bar Association, the S.C. Bar offers South Carolina Law Answers, an online service in which qualified low income individuals may post legal questions, including those related to bankruptcy law, that are answered by volunteer attorneys. Volunteer attorneys are provided malpractice insurance at no cost for the legal guidance that they provide on the South Carolina Law Answers website. The Court would like to recognize and thank the attorneys who have assisted with South Carolina Law Answers in the past year
