2024 Court Hearing Calendars

Wednesday, July 24, 2024

With the selection of L. Jefferson Davis, IV as bankruptcy judge in Charleston, SC, the Court will soon transition to three judges holding court hearings.  The calendar currently published through September 2024 remains applicable. Litigants should continue to self-schedule hearings pursuant to the published calendar by division location and if applicable, chapter and trustee, regardless of the addition of the third judge.

The Court anticipates each judge to handle most cases in their respective assigned division (Burris/Greenville, Gasparini/Columbia, Davis/Charleston), except as follows:
• conflict cases;
• a more random assignment of all chapter 11 cases;
• Trustee Mathews' Chapter 13 cases will continue to be assigned to Judge Burris; and
• Trustee Simmons-Beasley' cases will continue to be assigned to Judge Gasparini.

Calendars for September through December 2024 are found here. As an accommodation to the public, members of the bar, and court staff, the calendars for October through December reflect a weekly pattern that repeats every four weeks (except at the end of December) and are designed for predictability with future scheduling.  While the judges will attempt to avoid scheduling hearings during the “open” days/weeks, there will be instances when hearings or trials must be scheduled on those days and the Court will attempt to consult the parties beforehand.

The Court will post future calendars for 2025 soon and it is expected that future calendars will follow the same pattern as set forth above, with one week of no court scheduled every four weeks.
