EXPIRATION OF TERM OF INCUMBENT BANKRUPTCY JUDGE

The current term of United States Bankruptcy Judge David R. Duncan expires on May 25, 2020.  The United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit is considering the reappointment of Bankruptcy Judge Duncan to a new 14-year term of office.  The basic jurisdiction of a bankruptcy judge is specified in Title 28, United States Code, and explained in Title 11, United States Code, as well as in 98 Stat. 344, Pub. L. 98-353, Title I, § 120.

 

Members of the bar and concerned citizens are invited to comment on whether the incumbent bankruptcy judge should be reappointed.  Written comments may be sent in confidence to James N. Ishida, Circuit Executive, Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals, 1100 East Main Street, Richmond, VA  23219-3517 and must be received by October 22, 2019.
