Clerk of Court
Lauren T. Maxwell assumed her new role as Clerk of Court on September 9, 2024. Lauren graduated with honors from Clemson University (B.A., 2007) and the University of North Carolina School of Law (J.D., 2010). After law school, she worked in private practice for several years. She has served this Court for approximately eleven years, first as a term and career law clerk and as Chief Deputy Clerk since 2022.

Our new Clerk of Court is pleased to announce Andrew A. Powell has been selected to serve as Chief Deputy. Andrew earned his undergraduate degree from Wofford College in 2007, magna cum laude, where he was Captain of the Cross Country and Track Team. He graduated cum laude from the University of South Carolina School of Law in 2011, where he served as Articles Editor for the South Carolina Law Review. Andrew’s diverse bankruptcy experience includes working for Columbia-based law firms primarily representing consumer creditors, as career law clerk for Judge John E. Waites (ret.), and as staff attorney to Chapter 13 Trustee Annemarie B. Mathews. Andrew is an active member of the J. Bratton Davis Bankruptcy American Inn of Court and the South Carolina Bankruptcy Law Association.
