Law Clerk Vacancy

With the departure of Andrew Powell, Judge Waites is seeking a law clerk to work full or part time for a term of 1 year or less, to be designated by the Judge. The preferred applicant should have at least 2 years of experience in bankruptcy, with an emphasis on research and writing. The Judge will consider applicants interested in working remotely or in the Columbia chambers.

 

Temporary Clerkship On Leave of Absence from Present Firm

 

The opportunity to serve as law clerk may also apply to a presently employed attorney who is willing to take a leave of absence from his/her present firm in order to gain bankruptcy experience with the expectation that the attorney may return to practice with the firm when the volume of legal work returns. In such instances, the attorney would not be allowed to work on any pending matter involving the law firm or In which the law firm has appeared.

 

Salary is dependent on the applicant’s experience. Prior federal law clerk experience, may result in pay setting above the initial pay step in the applicable pay grade.  Pay setting is in accordance with applicable guidelines.  The position is open until filled but, once filled, employment may commence immediately.
