As charged by Congress in its passage of the 2018 Pro Bono Work to Empower & Represent Act (POWER Act), the U.S. District Court for the District of South Carolina, the SC Coalition Against Domestic Violence & Sexual Assault, SC Legal Services, and the University of South Carolina School of Law proudly announce this free virtual training to promote the expansion of pro bono and low bono legal services for victims of stalking and harassment.

This webinar on the Ins & Outs of Stalking and Harassment Restraining Orders in S.C. is a 1.5 hour training by Asst. Professor Lisa Martin from the University of South Carolina School of Law & Melinda Taylor from SC Legal Services.  This training will provide information that attorneys, summary court judges, law enforcement and advocates need to help ensure that victims of stalking and harassment have access to civil stalking or harassment restraining orders and other resources needed to ensure their safety. We also invite the larger community to join the conference as we work together to create a community free of stalking and harassment.

Presenters will also highlight the publicly-available resources that the law school’s Domestic Violence Clinic has developed for litigants in Restraining Order cases and pro bono/low bono opportunities for attorneys.

This webinar has been approved for 1.5 hours of professional credit for SC Summary Court Judges, Attorneys, Victim Service Professionals and Law Enforcement Officers.

Funding for this training was provided through the support of the SC Bar Foundation.
