Bankruptcy filings within the District of South Carolina rose 12% in the twelve-month period ending December 31, 2023, when compared to the prior twelve months.  The Court experienced a significant increase in Chapter 11 and Chapter 13 cases, with filings increasing by 125% and 14%, respectively during the same period.  Nationally, total filings increased by 16.8% during the same 12-month period.  Further information about the national filing trend and statistics for our district can be found here.
