Court Operations During a Shutdown and Notice to Government Contractors

Thursday, September 28, 2023

The United States Bankruptcy Court will continue operations notwithstanding any possible government shutdown caused by the failure to enact an annual appropriation act or continuing resolution.  The Court will continue to receive filings, process pleadings, issue orders, and otherwise carryout normal operations.  Cases currently calendared for October will proceed as scheduled and parties should continue scheduling hearings in the normal course of business.  Parties remain obligated to comply with the filing requirements of the Federal Rules of Bankruptcy Procedure and this Court's Local Rules.

For government contractors, the Administrative Office has provided a Pre-Lapse in Appropriations Notice to Contractors, to reduce uncertainty and provide information on contractual obligations for both the governmental agencies and their contractors. Unless otherwise notified, contractors must continue to fulfill their contractual obligations.

The Court will provide additional information as necessary.
